At Davila Kafe, what’s inside your cup is so much more than just coffee. Our coffee crosses borders by bringing Haitian and Nicaraguan communities together. It unites families, coffee farmers, and agricultural cooperatives. Most importantly, our quality control lies in our method. We trade directly with our partners to bring you only single-origin coffee directly from farms in Thiotte, Haiti, and El Crucero, Nicaragua. By doing so we can guarantee that our farmers are doing all they can to bring you great coffee while ensuring that each bean is never overlooked, and always preserved.
Below you’ll find a breakdown of each kind of bean along with the flavors and roast that correspond to each. We’re here to help you find the best roast for you, for every occasion.
Vibrant & Strong
Are you looking for a roast that’s vibrant, and strong? Something that will kick-start your day with without bitterness or acidity? Then, we recommend our Ruben Dario. Named after Nicaragua’s most prolific writer, poet, and diplomat, this medium-dark roast is perfect for coffee lovers who like a strong, and well-balanced cup of coffee. Ruben Dario comes from 100% Arabic beans, which are some of the coffee world’s best beans. Our regulars enjoy this roast because of its perfect balance of smoothness and boldness. We recommend that you enjoy this roast without milk or sugar. However, if you prefer, add just a hint of sugar and watch this roast blossom into one powerful cup.
Strong to Sweet
Do you want a medium roast bean with a double take? Then Jacmel is the right choice for you! Named after Haiti’s cultural capital, and home to Haiti’s first coffee port, Jacmel starts with an invigorating bold flavor, and crash lands with sweet notes. Careful though, this roast is highly caffeinated, so you’ll be ready to scale Mt. Kilimanjaro or clean the whole house in under an hour. This non-acidic gastro-journey is perfect for early afternoons, meetings, and even desserts. We’ve been told by non-traditional coffee drinkers, “I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love Jacmel!” We’re sure you’ll enjoy this experience.
Sweet & Silky
Not a dark-roast fan? No problem! Our Esteli, named after my father’s Nicaraguan hometown, is known for its natural sweetness. The excellent combination of Nicaragua’s volcanic rich soil and natural processed beans ferment together to give this roast a natural sweetness without a bit of acidity. Perfect for mid-day pick-me-ups, weekend vibes, and relaxing after a long day. We’re sure you’ll enjoy its natural sweetness and splendor.
Earthy, Strong & Crisp
You asked for it, and now we have it! It’s every dark roast lover’s dream come true. Nicarao, named after Nicaragua’s most powerful tribal chief, is our darkest roast. This Vienna roast is filled with earthy and dark chocolate notes. Best news? It’s non-acidic. This roast will wake you up and keep you fueled throughout the day. It’s perfect for a cold winter day and your daily hustle. If you like your coffee dark and packed with a strong punch, Nicarao is for you! Milk and sugar may be required.
