We add tasting notes to our packaging and our website to describe to nuances particular to each roast, noting the brightness, sweetness and body of each coffee. The final flavor of your coffee is affected by the origin of the coffee, the amount of sunlight received by the plant, rain, wind, and the altitude at which the coffee is cultivated. Do not be alarmed if you can’t taste dark chocolate or caramel in your brew. Flavors are appreciated differently from person to person. What do you like? What’s the difference between light, medium, and dark roast? "Before you can drink coffee the beans must be roasted. The lighter the roast the more acidic the flavor, the more caffeinated the bean, and the more likely you are to taste the flavor profiles associated to that bean. A darker roast is much less acidic, less caffeinated, but much more chocolaty and smokey in flavor.
-
Are your roasts dark, medium, or light?"Our roasts are generally considered medium to medium-dark. We work with our partners and producers to source the highest quality beans for our roasts. Each roast is perfected to bring out the best of what’s inherent to our particular beans. For those of you who love a dark, smokey flavor, we have our Nicarao Roast. Find more on roasting here.
-
Where can I store my coffee for the best preservation? For long lasting flavors, store your coffee in a cool, and dark place. The best way to store your coffee is whole bean (not ground) in an airtight container in a cool, and dark place. Avoid storing your coffee in the refrigerator or freezer if you’re planning to consume your coffee in the coming days and weeks. Constantly removing and placing coffee in the freezer will result in added moisture to the bean. This added moisture will begin to deteriorate the quality of your beans. Yet, please note that coffee is malleable in flavor and quickly absorbs the flavor of things around it. Carefully select a container to store your coffee in and know that storing near odorous foods, spices, etc. may change the flavor of your coffee.
