Friend,
Can you believe two years have already passed since we moved our little family of three from Conakry, Guinea to the United States? A lot has changed in such a short time. For one, we are now a family of FOUR with the sweet addition of our newest baby boy who’s already crawling and learning to be part of the wild adventure of diplomacy and coffee he was born into. And, believe it or not, we’re heading back to Africa for yet another adventure that will include both diplomacy and coffee. Don’t worry - you’ll still be able to receive the freshest bags of your favorite Davila Kafe roasts in the U.S.
every bit of your continued belief in our story and vision for the future of coffee has taught us that this marathon we’re running is not for the swift, but for the ones who endure and persevere
Over the past few weeks, David and I have given a lot of thought to some of the hard earned lessons we’ve learned not just in the past two years, but over the past decade. Something that we’ve always loved about the Davila Kafe community is how much we learn from each other. From the emails you’ve sent us, to the messages of encouragement–every bit of your continued belief in our story and vision for the future of coffee has taught us that this marathon we’re running is not for the swift, but for the ones who endure and persevere. There would be no Davila Kafe without YOU so we want to thank you for your friendship in coffee. With that, below, you’ll find a compilation of the top 10 lessons that we’ve learned.
You don’t owe anyone a conversation or explanation
No is a complete sentence
Not everyone is entitled to know your wins
With the right mindset, it can be done
Never stop learning
Clear boundaries are your friends
People will show you who they are, believe them the first time
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Hint: If it’s not life or death, it’s small
Be kind
Trust God
We’d love to know if any of these lessons resonate with you so drop us a note!
Stay fueled,
Gaï
